The Journey of Kurdish Women to Berlin

A Research and Artistic Engagement Project

This project amplifies the voices of Kurdish female asylum seekers, exploring their migration journeys, struggles, and resilience. Through 10 in-depth interviews and storytelling sessions, we document their lived experiences, creating space for their narratives to be heard. Facilitated by Fatma Çelik our researcher, these stories are further refined in a focus group discussion. Additionally, a theater workshop was conducted in the context of the project. Through the project the Kurdish language acted as a bridge—connecting the Kurdish region with the diaspora in Germany, fostering dialogue and shared human experiences.

A Collaboration with VAHA

This project is part of VAHA, a program created to strengthen independent arts and culture spaces as platforms for public discussion and dialogue across Turkey and Europe. VAHA fosters exchange and collaboration among hybrid spaces that respond to the current crises of democracy in the region.

Through Off University’s commitment to alternative research and VAHA’s dedication to cultural dialogue, this project brings together storytelling, theater, and artistic research to celebrate resilience, identity, and collective memory.
