Organize A Course with Off University
Off University’s online courses are taught by scholars at risk and co-hosted by a university to allow for accreditation. As a host institution, you can support a scholar at risk and act as a quality manager for one or more of our courses. Your role is to certify the hours that students spend in fulfilling the requirements of a course that is usually – but not always – independent from the existing curriculum at your institution. Upon successful completion of a course, you can provide participants with a certificate that provides credit points (ECTS) on a transcript of records.
As a host institution, you are named as host university for the course publicly and may also assist in the promotion of the course. You can check our current host universities on the courses page.
If possible, you can show your engagement for academic freedom through contracting the scholar at risk directly and offering them an institutional affiliation.
If you are interested in hosting a course with Off University, please contact us via info@off-university.de.
We are pleased to have an agreement with the Philipp Schwartz Initiative (PSI) of the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation. All PSI fellows are able to use the lump sum they receive in addition to their scholarship to organise a tandem online course with Off-University. PSI fellows may thus invite another at-risk-scholar stranded or trapped in their country to co-lead an online course and receive remuneration of 5000Euro.
The collaboration usually works on the initiative of either the scholars, the international office at their university or the host. You can take the initiative and inform fellows, international offices and hosts about this tandem teaching opportunities. If they are interested or you have any questions please write to info@off-university.de.
We are happy to help you with any of the steps above. Please reach us at info@off-university.de.
